A Short History

CDM’s activities began in 1951 as a manufacturer of plastic cork materials, but soon also offering installation of guaranteed performance engineered solutions. Heavy investment in research, development and testing, and our joint venture with the Amorim group in 1990, resulted in the development of a new range of elastomer materials. The joint venture enabled CDM to offer a multi material approach to the markets incorporating high resilience cork rubbers, elastomers and steel springs into our systems. During the late 1990’s investment in the development of recycled rubbers further increased our range of materials and in 2004 we purchased the RBSI factory where we now produce an extensive range of recycled rubber materials.

As a result of our history we offer the most comprehensive range of materials and systems available on the market; ensuring that we can provide the best technical solution available for all noise and vibration applications.

We are committed to the research and development of new technology and, as part of this strategy, in 2009 Saffelberg Investments became our strategic financial partner to facilitate the further advancements required to secure our position as global market leaders of vibration isolation solutions.

Our Values

At CDM we are people focused and promote a culture of equality, respect, teamwork and continued improvement which enables us to build strong, durable relationships within our organisation and also with our customers and supplier base. We encourage personal development and learning because we believe that our talented and passionate people are our most important resource. Our people care about what they do and about making a difference and are the key to our continued business success

Result orientated and value driven we have a strong emphasis on customer service, technical excellence, high performance, quality and sustainability. We offer complete neutrality with regard to material selection because our comprehensive range of springs, cork rubbers, elastomers and polyurethane foams provide us with the freedom to select the very best available solution.

CDM’s creative ability for providing new and exciting noise and vibration solutions is a direct result of our many years of research, development, testing, and investment in new technology. Our multi-disciplined team are continually investigating and evaluating what is possible from different engineering aspects, ensuring continued innovation. This dynamic approach is the heartbeat of CDM and ensures the continued evolution of new products, providing ever greater flexibility of choice for our clients. We focus on being the very best - offering the best products and quality combined with competitive cost effective engineered solutions for the international market.

Research &Development

At our headquarters in Belgium we have a full in-house test facility enabling our team of highly qualified engineers to be constantly testing, developing and improving our products and systems for the ever increasing demands of urban living.

Our ongoing research and development programme (often in partnership with international universities and research organisations) ensures continued expansion in our understanding of raw materials and how this knowledge can be used to develop the next generation of products. We have access to a very broad range of isolation materials allowing us the flexibility to provide the best available solution without being restricted to any particular material type.

Investment in sophisticated software enables us to offer technical support, engineering assistance, detailed drawings and installation plans to our client. When combined with our extensive in house library of tests, studies and experiments can be utilised to provide the optimum designed solution.

CDM’s years of expertise, research, development and innovation means we can combine reliability and quality to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to the market

RBSI

In 2004, as part of our ongoing programme of product development, CDM invested in a new manufacturing facility based in France. The technology available at RBSI enables us to recycle rubber tyres by processing them into granules which are then resin bonded to make a range of materials with different stiffness characteristics.

Many of our standard products and systems for the building, rail and industrial markets are now made from these recycled materials. Additionally these materials are being utilised in a new generation of products for applications such as: playground mats, stock breeding mats, sport surfaces and moulded street furniture.. |
